Abeykoon skips Madrid Meet

Italy-based Sri Lankan sprinter Yupun Abeykoon did not participate in the World Athletic Continental Madrid Meet in Spain on Saturday.

South African Gift Leotlela was placed first at this meet with a time of 10.15s but most of the top international athletes kept away from this event.

According to a top official of Sri Lanka Athletic, Abeykoon is among the qualifying range for the Tokyo Olympics and is expected to compete in another meet this week.

The deadline for the athletes to reach their Olympic qualification mark is June 29.
