Army CC will look to turn tables on the favourites SSC when the two teams clash in the SLC Twenty20 Cricket Tournament final at the SSC Grounds in Maitland Place today.

Both teams will take the field brimming with confidence after having recorded convincing victories in their respective semi-finals worked off on Thursday at the NCC Grounds.

SSC defeated the unbeaten CCC outfit by 32 runs while Army CC brought an end to Kurunegala YCC’s giant killing performances with a smashing nine-wicket victory.

The two teams, of course, will be meeting in a T20 contest after a lapse of four years and Army CC will have a psychological advantage having defeated SSC by five wickets in 2016 tournament semi-finals.

In fact, on that occasion, Army CC went on to clinch the title while overcoming Tamil Union by five wickets in the final played at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

This time they seem to be even more determined after having completed their preliminary round fixtures with five wins out of their six games. Army CC displayed their bowling prowess in the semi-finals when they restricted Kurunegala YCC to 114 for six with paceman Janith Silva (three for 15) turning out to be the chief wrecker.

But this time Army CC will be up against a formidable batting line-up with opening batsman Avishka Fernando making his presence felt in the semi-finals.
