Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to visit Sri Lanka on February 22 on a two day official visit and he will be the first Head of State to visit the country this year.
The Pakistani Prime Minister will call on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena during his stay in Colombo.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi in a telephone conversation with the Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena had exchanged views on bilateral matters including the upcoming visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Khan to Sri Lanka.
Foreign Minister Qureshi while felicitating Foreign Minister Gunawardena on the occasion of the 73rd National Day of Sri Lanka conveyed best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of the brotherly people of Sri Lanka.
Both sides underscored the importance of further strengthening and expanding bilateral cooperation in all areas including political, trade and economic, and combating COVID-19 pandemic during this telephone conversation.
The importance of high-level exchanges, which are the hallmark of the bilateral relationship, was underscored.
The two Foreign Ministers also reaffirmed mutual support for each other in the regional and multilateral fora including SAARC and the UN.
