MP Mano Ganesan said that he had expected the 2021 budget to be one that would focus on the Covid-19 pandemic situation and include measures that would address this situation. “We did not get what we expected. Moreover, the government in this budget has not made changes to taxes, but we know what they will do later on.
They will issue a gazette and make the relevant changes later on.”
He also said that while the government has promised the Estate workers their Rs.1000 wage, he hoped this would be their basic wage. “Therefore, I hope and pray that this promised Rs.1000 wage would be the basic wage for these estate workers.”
