National People’s Power Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake speaking on the government’s new Budget for 2021 said that it has not provided a solid plan to save the country from its major debt crisis.
MP Dissanayake observed: “This is a Budget that is disheartening in every possible aspect.
Our country is presently facing a major economic crisis. This Budget does not provide solutions for this crisis. This budget follows the same way that all other budgets went, where they rely on more debts.”
Dissanayake said:“Government’s expenditure amounts to Rs. 5 trillion. The government has proposed to obtain loans worth Rs. 3 trillion. Our debt in 2020 and 2021 are Rs. 5000 bn. Our future generation will be entangled in a major debt crisis due to Budgets like these. We cannot see anything new in this budget as well.”
