Nine hundred and twenty-two persons were asked to self-isolate in their houses in the Southern Province, last Fridaty. All of them have been identified as first and second-tier associates of Minuwnagoda COVID-19 cluster, Southern Province Health Services Director Consultant Chandima Sirithunga said.
Out of the total of persons undergoing quarantine process, 348 are from Galle District, while 328 are from the Matara District. In the Hambantota District, 246 persons are currently being quarantined.
The District Health Services offices of the province have initiated a special clinical mission to get bio samples from people for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests. Accordingly, during the past few months, bio samples from 3,382 persons in Galle, 2,078 persons in Matara, and 1,071 in Hambantota districts, respectively, have been obtained for PCR tests, the SP Health Services Director added.
