Kurunegala to regain ancient splendour

A special programme will be set up to preserve historic ruins in the Kurunegla District for the coming generations by the Archeological Affairs Department under the patronage of North Western Province (NWP) Governor Raja Kollure.

Archeological Affairs Department Kurunegala District Assistant Director Gamini Gunaratne said that the ancient ruins such as Royal Palace, Royal Court, Elephant’s Rock, and the ruins at the Governor’s office will be conserved to regain the glory of the historic Kurunegala kingdom.

The Asian Development Bank will fund the project at a cost of Rs. 1,234 million.
