The Wrestling Federation of Sri Lanka (WFSL) is planning to stage an Invitation Beach Wrestling event in the beaches of Negombo in December.
This will be the first time a Beach Wrestling event is be held in Sri Lanka. Apart from the hosts Sri Lanka, the WFSL hopes to invite wrestlers from four Asian countries for this competition.
India, Bangladesh and Thailand have already shown their interest in participating in this tournament. The competition would be held under strict health regulations because of the prevailing Coronavirus pandemic situation.
This competition was to be a prelude to the Asian Beach Games, which was scheduled to be held in China in November and December, but was postponed to next year.
Meanwhile, the WFSL hopes to select a National Pool based on the performance at the Negombo Beach Wrestling event to prepare for next year’s Asian Beach Games.
