The Victoria Golf and Country Resort (VGCR) will relaunch their sports activities once again with the 12th Annual Mark Bostock Memorial Golf Tournament scheduled for October 3 and 4 at their Golf Course in Rajawella, Digana.

In fact, this would be the first time in two years that a major tournament is conducted on the full 18-hole course and the event is also considered as a ‘soft launch’ of the course and facilities.

In addition, the Mark Bostock Memorial Trophy is a flagship tournament and a Board Event at the VGCR, conducted in memory of Mark Bostock, former Chairman of John Keells Holdings and the pioneer behind the Victoria Golf Course.

This event will be an 18-hole Stableford Tournament as in the past, with the main trophy been awarded to the player with the best net score.

In addition, the Ken Balendra Trophy will be awarded for the best gross score in the Men’s category while the Tony Whitham Trophy will be presented for the best gross score in the Women’s category. Meanwhile, among the top competitors, the promising Haroon Aslam will be the cynosure of all eyes as he makes another effort to retain the Men’s title for the second successive year.

Incidentally, the schoolboy from Trinity College, stole the limelight at the 2018 event where he became the youngest to claim the overall title at the age of 14 years.

Louise Huxtable emerged as the winner of the Women’s event last year while Niloo Jayathilaka was the runner-up.
