All Tamil parties except TNA to support Shashikala Raviraj

All Tamil political parties except the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) have decided to stand in support of Shashikala Raviraj, the wife of the late Nadaraja Raviraj, who is alleged to have been subjected to a severe injustice by contesting from the TNA in the Jaffna District.

Shashikala Raviraj alleges that three TNA MPs had taken various steps to prevent her from being elected to Parliament.

Former Northern Provincial Councilor M.K. Sivajilingam has come forward to take legal action against the injustice alleged to have occured in counting preferential votes and Anandi Sashiharan of the Tamil Makkal Desiya Kuttani party had also visited Raviraj to discuss the matter further.

Meanwhile, SLFP MP Angajan Ramanathan, who was elected from the Jaffna district, has also visited Sashikala Raviraj to discuss the injustice she faced.

Shashikala Raviraj claims she was second on the preferential votes list from the Jaffna District. She alleged that on polling day, she was compelled to leave the polling station with her two daughters due to an altercation between TNA supporters and her supporters and she was later named as a losing candidate. All other Tamil Political parties plan to take legal action against the TNA in this regard.
