Poll health guidelines will be gazetted - Minister

Health guidelines for holding the General Election 2020 will be gazetted in the next two days, Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said.

Minister Wanniarachchi said the health guidelines connected with the holding of the election will be gazetted after the Attorney General and the Legal Draftsman’s advice.

The Health Ministry handed over the health guidelines in connection with the General Election to the Election Commission on June 3. The health guidelines include recommendations for postal voting, what public servants should adhere to in postal voting, how election meetings should be held and how house- to- house canvassing should be done and other related issues.

The health guidelines for holding the General Election also contain how the General Election day activities should be done and how counting of votes should be done. The health guidelines for the General Election were formulated through continuous discussions held with Election Commission officials.
