Sea Marshal, others sent back from quarantine

The Sea Marshal from Jinthupitiya who was earlier thought to have contracted COVID -19 again and 154 persons who had associated him sent for quarantine were sent home yesterday after testing negative for the virus, authorities said.

The Government Information Department issuing a media release quoting Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe said the Sea Marshal who had tested positive for COVID-19 on July 2, had tested negative for the virus during five consecutive PCR tests.

The Sea Marshal from Jinthupitiya had been discharged from hospital after testing negative for the virus and his 154 close associates who were at the quarantine centre in Kandakadu had been sent back to their respective homes after PCR tests showed negative results for COVID-19.

The Sri Lankan sea marshal who returned from a foreign country had tested positive for COVID-19 during his home quarantine period in early July and he was subsequently hospitalised.
