Amending working hours: Report presented to Minister

A committee appointed to amend the office hours of state and private sectors yesterday handed over its final report to Passenger Transport Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera recommending to set state sector office hours from 9.00 am until 4.45 pm and the private sector from 9.45 am until 6.45 pm.

The office hours have been amended to keep the one meter social distance between people to prevent the spread of COVID-19, avoiding traffic congestion and enhancing the efficiency of public and private services.

The Committee headed by Additional Secretary to the Ministry Tilakaratne Banda was appointed by Minister Amaraweera to come up with relevant recommendations to provide an efficient transport service to the people amidst the traffic congestion on the advice of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Accordingly, Secretary to the Ministry Gamini Seneviratne handed over the final report to the Minister yesterday.

Minister Amaraweera addressing a media briefing held in Colombo yesterday said that the recommendations of the report will be implemented after getting approval from the Public Administration Ministry and the Cabinet of Ministers.
