The closing date for university admission has been extended by the University Grant Commission (UGC), Higher Education Ministry sources said.
Accordingly, students, who qualified for university entrance, can submit their applications for university admission up to two weeks from the commencement date of schools. The schools are scheduled to reopen on 20th of April by the Education Ministry. However when concerning the prevailing situation in the country amid the Covid 19 outbreak, schools won’t probably be opened on April 20th.
The UGC has taken this measure to extend the closing date for university admission concerning the difficulties faced by students when submitting their university admission applications during school vacations.
Education Minister Dullas Alahapperuma has also discussed this matter with the UGC authorities and expressed his consent for extending the deadline for university admission.
