Lankans working abroad advised not to travel home

The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau yesterday requested migrant workers to postpone their travel schedules in consideration of the Covid-19 outbreak.

The Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau in a statement observed that many countries in the Middle East, Europe and Asia which are popular among the Sri Lankans for foreign employment, are threatened by Covid-19.

This request is issued for the safety of fellow Sri Lankans, the Bureau said.

It also observed that the government has already issued directives to embassies in the affected countries to take all measures to facilitate Sri Lankans employed there.

Accordingly, each such embassy has been given a hotline and the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau can be reached via hotline number 1989.
