Hakeem a spent force- Dayasiri

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) led by MP Rauff Hakeem is not a decisive factor in forming governments anymore,Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary, Industries and Commerce State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said.He said the SLMC has been such a significant factor when the United National Party is in power but that situation changed with the election win of November 16 last year.

The General Secretary stated this speaking to media at the SLFP headquarters in Colombo yesterday.

He said the people would re-affirm the verdict given to them at the next election too. “Rauff Hakeem has no right to manipulate the governments of the country,” he stressed.

Jayasekara also said that the Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Sandanaya will form a government with over 120 parliamentary seats after the next general election.

That government will run the full five years and the SLFP will act against any negative problem overcoming that government, he added.

Responding to Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa’s request for the Sri Lanka Freedom Party supporters at grassroot level to join with him, Jayasekara asked Premadasa to find answers to the issues within his party instead of using the SLFPers for their issues.

The General Secretary said his party is not ready to form a government or an alliance with the United National Party after the upcoming parliamentary election. He also requested the Opposition Leader to stop rebelling and join with the UNP to go ahead as a leader.
