Road accident
A constable was mowed down by a private bus near the Maussakele road barrier on the Maskeliya-Nallathanniya road.
The injured constable was admitted to the Maskeliya Hospital but he succumbed to injuries upon admission.
The 40-year-old deceased was identified as a constable of the Medawachchiya Police Station, a resident of Kebithigollewa.
The private bus driver was arrested and Maskeliya Police are investigating.
Nabbed with heroin
The Matara Anti Corruption Unit arrested two suspects with 105 grams of ICE (Crystal Methamphetamine) in the Gandara Police Division on a tip off.
The 34 year-old two suspects were identified as residents of Dewnuwara and Mulative.
The suspects along with drugs were handed over to Matara Police.
They were produced before the Matara Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Matara Police are investigating.
Suspect arrested with 2.6 g of heroin
A suspect was arrested with 2.6 grams of heroin by by Mount Lavinia Anti Corruption Unit in Mount Lavinia recently.
The suspect is a 58-year-old resident of Dehiwala.
He was produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court yesterday and the Mount Lavinia Anti Corruption Unit are investigating.
Nabbed with Kerala Cannabis
An Englishman and an Australian were arrested with 9.7 grams of Kerala cannabis by Matara Police.
The suspects are in the age group of 20 and 32.
They were produced before the Matara Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Matara Police are investigating.
