The East Coast of Sri Lanka is a region where tourism booms during May - September when the waves that crash along the coastal towns of Arugambay and Pottuvil are eagerly sought after by surfers across the globe. To counter the widespread misconception of monsoon weather curbing visitation during November to April, Hiran Cooray, Chairman, and Len Porter, Director, of Jetwing Symphony are ready to show guests a unique perspective to a land that has so much to discover. The tour is named Beyond Surfing in the East and is a 3-day guided tour with Hiran and Len from February 21 to 23.
“Many people think that the East Coast is a seasonal destination, however from my experience the beauty of the east is year-round. Along with Len, I’m excited to introduce my Sri Lankan friends to this part of our island, its beautiful wildlife and cultural monuments,” said Hiran Cooray.
The tour will consist of visits to ancient ruins, national parks and river safaris, along with accommodation and meals at Jetwing Surf, and transport from Colombo on double sharing basis. Jetwing Surf is a divine eco luxury resort in Pottuvil, with cabanas fitted with plush king-sized beds along with indoor and outdoor showers to an infinity pool by the sea replete with a pool bar under swaying palm trees.
Hiran Cooray, a trailblazer in the Sri Lankan tourism industry, has visited nearly 100 countries and has been an avid nature lover since childhood. It was his passion to showcase Sri Lanka’s best that saw hospitality expand to destinations such as Pottuvil. Len Porter is responsible for introducing the wonders of the East Coast to Hiran and the Jetwing Family.
Though born and bred in the UK, Len has a deep bond with Sri Lanka, and his passion for the region resulted in the many excursions founded by him in and around Pottuvil.
