Armed forces to maintain public order

A gazette extraordinary was issued  calling upon the armed forces to maintain public order across the country with effect from today.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa issued the gazette notification on Monday by virtue of the powers vested in him by Section 12 of the Public Security ordinance.

Accordingly the army, navy and air force have been called out for the maintanance of public order in the administrative districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Hambantota, Jaffna, Mannar, Mullathivu, Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalee, Puttalam, Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Kurunagala, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Badulla, Monaragala, Ratnapura and Kegalle.
