Chamod Keshan scored an unbeaten 23 and grabbed a match haul of nine wickets while Malsha Tharupathi smashed an unbeaten 35 off 10 balls and picked up seven wickets to help Madampa Central College crush Vijitha Central College by ten wickets on the second day before lunch. The under 19 Division III tier one group G encounter was held at the Vijitha Central ground in Dikwella.
Invited to bat first after a delayed start due to the absence of the visiting team’s Master in Charge, Vijitha Central were sitting pretty on 98/4 at lunch but fell to the spin of Keshan (left arm) and Malsha (right arm) to end on 134.
Madanpa Central in reply, powered by a 64 ball 53 by Suneth Maduranga and Chavindu Acinthna, Chamod Dilhara, and Chamod Keshara each made three 20-plus scores to post 173 in their first essay (157/9 overnight). Pacies Menusha Dinu Sachintha and Kushan Malinda captured three wickets each while left-arm spinner K. S. Chandupa claimed a pair as well.
Chamod Keshan and Malsha Tharupathi captured five wickets each to restrict the home team’s second innings to 77. Oshan Dhanushka topped the scorecard with an unbeaten 19.
Needing 39 to win it took only two overs for Madampa Central to win by ten wickets. Malsha Tharupathi smashed 35 off 10 balls (7x4 + 1x6).
