‘Naraweeya Raja’ arrested with Kerala cannabis

A retired army officer was arrested when he was attempting to sell Kerala cannabis to a police officer.

The suspect known as 'Naraweeya Raja' has been previously arrested and has served in remand for three months for having narcotics at the time of his arrest. He has been fined Rs 15,000.

A police officer who visited the Devanampiyathispura area had bought a packet of cannabis at Rs. 500 from the suspect before arresting him with 50 grams of Kerala cannabis.

The suspect had been working in Kilinochchi and bringing cannabis to Anuradhapura assisted by other racketeers.

Investigations are continuing.
