Royal Park murder convict leaves country

In an affidavit, the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration informed the Supreme Court that Royal Park murder convict Don Shamantha Jude Anthony Jayamaha had left the country last November 15, prior to the issuance of an Interim Order banning him from leaving the country.

Senior Deputy Solicitor General Nerin Pulle appearing for the Attorney General informed Supreme Court that in accordance with the affidavit filed by Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, the accused Jayamaha had obtained a passport on November 13, soon after he received presidential pardon.

Meanwhile, President’s Counsel Sanjeewa Jayawardena appearing for the petitioners told court that Jude Anthony Jayamaha was reported to have fled to Singapore.

Jayamaha had been released from the Kuruvita prison on November 10.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court yesterday further extended its Interim order directing the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration to prevent Royal Park murder convict Don Shamantha Jude Anthony Jayamaha from leaving the country, until June 1.
