Twenty four grenades found in Batticaloa

Kokkaddichcholai Police had found 24 hand grenades from a barren land close to a paddy field in Vekanthachenai, Kansirankuda, Batticaloa on Saturday (30).

The grenades may have buried in the land during the war by the LTTE terrorists, police said.

The STF bomb disposal squad had defused the grenades after obtaining a court order. Recent rains washed away sands and exposed the grenades, police said.

Kokkaddichcholai Police are investigating.
