Better than the original!

Walt Disney Animation’s ‘Frozen II’ hasn’t even come out yet, and it’s already broken a record. Tickets for the highly-anticipated sequel went on sale earlier this week, and Fandango reports that in the first day of availability, ‘Frozen II’ sold more tickets than the previous record-holder, ‘Toy Story 4’.

That means it is now the new presales champion for animated movies, with its first-day totals topping those of every other animated film in Fandango’s 19-year history. And its next 24 hours were pretty impressive, too.

2013’s ‘Frozen’ was about two estranged sisters finally coming together again after years of separation, with their small family restored and everything seemingly set up for a “happily ever after” ending. But directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck didn’t think the story of Elsa and Anna was finished, and even though the dynamic has changed between the characters, the sequel presents them with new challenges as Elsa experiences a far-off voice calling to her in the night.

The ‘Frozen II’ filmmakers recently revealed how Anna has “everything to lose” this time around, the element of this sequel they’re most proud of, crafting this new story in the shadow of the first film’s mega-hit status, and letting the characters guide the story instead of the other way around.

Idina Menzel, Kisten Bell and Josh Gad have all returned for the sequel that will follow Elsa and her sister Anna as they embark on an adventure far away from the kingdom of Arendelle. ‘Frozen II’ hits theaters on November 22.
