National People’s Movement Presidential candidate Mahesh Senanayake said as much as he provided security to the Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities on an equal footing when he served as Army Commander, he will treat all communities in like manner while engaging in politics too. He was speaking at a media conference at the Jaffna media society hall while on the campaign trail in Jaffna on Wednesday.
Senanayake who said that all communities in the country faced certain unresolved problems and difficulties, added that he came forward to contest the Presidential Election in order to find solutions for them.
He said his objective was to ascertain the development problems in each province and launch development activities accordingly.
He would also promote inter-communal friendship and relations without allowing a division of the country.
