The Cabinet will have a limited numbers of ministers and due recognition would be given to capable and dexterous persons by completely changing archaic methodologies and systems when I become President. A people-centered new system of governance will be introduced, New Democratic Front Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa said.

Premadasa was addressing a meeting of professionals held in Weligama on Tuesday.

“I have already accomplished the task of placing the strategy and the vision for the forward march of the country before the people and plan to educate the masses over the positive targets of it,” he said.

“The systems and methodologies that have been practiced in the country have stifled our progress.

The time has come to reform and rectify all such obsolete methods. By changing state governance and administration completely the forward march of the country could be accelerated. We have to be detrmined to effect changes to the existing system. Many developed countries have achieved prosperity and economic success on ideologies and guidelines of academics, scientists and experts in the respective areas and fields. My ambition is to take the country towards progress under the guidance and advise of those learned persons. Hence, I will seek the cooporation of all such professionals in my national effort,”Premadasa further stated.

He said when formulating national policies, we have to assess the national needs and people’s aspirations. Our goal should be to fulfill the ambitions of the masses. We have to formulate plans aimed at the sustainable progress of the country. We have to devise plans to make a strong and powerful country. I have the necessary strategies and policies for this purpose.

“I am hopeful that the people would definitely vote for me and elect me as the President of the country on November 16. Upon my victory,I am determined to fortify the country’s national security and strengthen the national economy, aimed at building a prosperous country within a short period of time,” Premadasa said.
