The Ceylon Workers’ Congress (CWC) will support United National Party Presidential Candidate Sajith Premadasa at the forthcoming Presidential Election, said Leader of the House, Public Enterprise and Kandy Development Minister Lakshman Kiriella.
He was speaking at a meeting held at the Kandy UNP Office yesterday.
Minister Kiriella said CWC Leader Arumugam Thondaman told him when he met the Minister recently that the CWC will support Sajith Premadasa at the Presidential Election.
The Minister said the CWC did not support the UNP led coalition at the 2015 election, but this time they will support them. He said the CWC enjoys a massive vote base in many areas including Nuwara Eliya.
Minister Kiriella said the UNP candidate will receive a large number of votes from East and North as well this time, and every other region, too, has no difference.
The UNP has united every community in the country in the past, and the only political party under which the people unite this time as well is the UNP, the Minister said.
