All schools of three education divisions of the Colombo Education Zone and three schools in the Sri Jayewardenepura Education Zone will be close on Monday, (7th), to facilitate the submission of candidacy nominations for the Presidential Election at the Elections Secretariat in Rajagiriya. Schools in the Borella, Colombo South and Colombo Central Education Divisions and President’s College, Hewavitharana Vidyalaya and Hewavitharana Primary School, all in Rajagiriya, will be closed next Monday, Education Ministry Secretary M.N.Ranasinghe told the Daily News.
The Education Ministry took this measure in response to the request made by Election Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya since the area around Rajagiriya will be subject to tight security measures for the nominations submission process during the period between 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., he explained.
