Declaring railways an Essential Service to be gazetted today

The gazette notification declaring the railways an Essential Service will be issued today, said the State Minister of Transport & Civil Aviation Ashok Abeysinghe.

He pointed out that the relevant documents have been directed to the Secretary to the President.

The Railway Engineers’ Union yesterday said that the trains will be operated today with the support of the locomotive operators.
