High Commissioner for Australia in Sri Lanka David Holly along with First Assistant Secretary to South and West Asia Division Dr. Lachian Strahan, Councillor Development Assistance Dr. Thomas Davies and Team Leader David Ablett visited Batticaloa at the invitation of the Batticaloa District Secretariat yesterday (20).
He was welcomed by the cultural troupes of the three communities. The Tamil troupe presented their traditional dances while the Muslims performed their customary raban dance and the Burghers entertained them with a kafrincha folk dance.
He was presented with the Batticaloa Fort development plan and the discussion followed on the various aspects of developing tourism in Batticaloa. The projects sponsored by the Australian Aid under their skills for inclusive growth scheme in conjunction with the Skill Development and Tourism Ministry.
Batticaloa District Additional Government Agent S.Srikanth, Director Planning Punniyamoorthy and executive members from various sectors participated.
