An international passenger charter flight from Ratmalana (RMA) to Visakhapatnam was operated by FITSAIR on its 70 sector – ATR 72 aircraft last week thus becoming the first private local air operator to do so.
The flight took off at 6 am and arrived ahead of schedule at Visakhapatnam at 9. 10 am and passengers were served traditional Sri Lankan Kiribath breakfast by the experienced cabin crew. FITSAIR is also an international freighter operator based and operating out of Katunayake (BIA) cargo hub serving the region. FITSAIR operates passenger flights out of RMA and BIA to domestic airports.
The senior management of FITSAIR commended the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, The Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka and the Airport and Aviation (SL) Ltd for encouragement extended to the local commercial private operators and specially making arrangements to open Palali for international traffic.
FITSAIR is looking forward in the transformation of international scheduled air travel to commence in the near future from Palali and Batticaloa airports to serve destinations within the region.
