The school text book distribution process for 2020 was initiated at the school text book store complex of the Education Publications Department in Pitipana yesterday.
Education Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said education activities of the entire students’ community were badly affected last year as the 52 day government failed to carry out the text book distribution process properly.
Instead of distributing text books on time that so called government, levelled baseless allegation on a photograph of him attached to text books as the Education Minister. That situation delayed the distribution of text books.
The Minister said it has been advised to have an environment protection plan for every school since it has been revealed that school environment is being damaged by certain constructions. A circular has already been issued, the Minister said.
The Education Publications Department had printed 44.7 million copies of text books of 443 book titles for 2020.
