SriLankan resumes Cochin flights

SriLankan Airlines resumed services to the Southern Indian city of Cochin yesterday. Flights were suspended since August 9 due to the adverse weather conditions prevailed in Cochin.

Accordingly, the first flight from SriLankan Airlines UL-166 departed from the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport at 9.10 am yesterday.

SriLankan Airlines media spokesperson told the Daily News that a flight per day is being operated throughout the week. SriLankan Airlines suspended all flights to Cochin on August 9 due to floods at the airport.

A red alert was issued to four western states of India, namely Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashta and Gujarat. Therefore, SriLankan Airlines and the Cochin airport took steps to suspend the flights.
