A youth died when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into a wall surrounding a Bo tree on the Horana – Mathugama main road in Thebuwana, on Tuesday.
The victim had been rushed to the Horana Base Hospital, where he had succumbed to his injuries.
He was identified as a 25-year-old resident of Piliyandala in Madapata.
Police said they suspect the youth had crashed into the wall while attempting to overtake another motorcycle.
They said it was likely that he had been unable to control the motorcycle’s speed.
Two others who had been on another motorcycle were admitted to the Nagoda General Hospital in Kalutara.
Investigations are continuing.
