Perpetual Treasuries’ suspension extended

The Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) has extended the suspension of business activities of Perpetual Treasuries Limited by another six months. The suspension was extended to continue the investigations being conducted by the Central Bank. In January this year, the Central Bank extended the suspension by six months, which expires this week.

"The Monetary Board of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, acting in terms of the Regulations made under the Registered Stock and Securities Ordinance and the Local Treasury Bills Ordinance, has decided to extend the suspension of Perpetual Treasuries Limited (PTL) from carrying on the business and activities of a Primary Dealer for a period of six months," the statement said.

The Central Bank suspended Perpetual Treasuries from carrying on business activities as a primary dealer on July 6, 2017, and extended the suspension twice for six months in January 2018 and July 2018.
