Arms cache hidden in Ollikulam jungle bared

A Criminal Investigation Department (CID) police team dug out a cache of 1,000 detonators, eight liters liquid gelignite, 300 gelignite sticks, detonator wires and a stock of T56 live cartridges from a shrub jungle in Ollikulam, Kattankudy yesterday.

CID investigators unearthed the hidden military hardware from multiple locations in Ollikulam shrub jungle with the information they have obtained from the extradited terror suspect Hayathu Mohamed Ahmed Milhan.

Hayathy Mohommad Ahmad Milhan (29), a Sri Lankan, is one of the main suspects in the April 21 Easter Sunday bombings.

After Milhan’s arrest in the Middle East, CID took him to custody after requesting the suspect’s extradition, and kept him in CID detention. Police said that the military hardware was dug out from multiple locations in the Ollikulam jungle with the help of information provided by Milhan during questioning.

The CID had taken Milhan and several other terror suspects to Ollikulam to locate where they had buried these weapons, police said.Police found 475 T56 rifle cartridges along with many other items.
