Special sil, meditation programmes for Poson

All Buddhist schools in the Kurunegala and Puttalam districts are to hold special programmes for meditation and observing sil on Poson Poya Day, June 16, under the guidance of the Education Ministry. Parents and school teachers had been asked to organise these programmes by the heads of Sunday schools in the two districts.

Around 350,000 people, including schoolchildren and their parents, are expected to take part in the programmes, Senior Kurunegala District Education Director W.M. Balasooriya said.

He was speaking at a meeting of school heads that was held yesterday at the Kurunegala Education Office.
