JVP to bring NCM against Government

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) will bring a No-Confidence Motion (NCM) against the Government, JVP Leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.

Speaking to the media in Colombo, the JVP Leader said that the No-Confidence Motion will be handed over to Speaker of Parliament Karu Jayasuriya today. Dissanayake said the No-Confidence Motion will be over the unstable security situation in the country following the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks, violent incidents in the aftermath and alleged security lapses.

“According to Parliament traditions, the No-Confidence Motion against Minister Rishad Bathuideen has to be taken first as it was submitted earlier. However, if the Opposition Leader agrees, our No-Confidence Motion can be taken first”.

Dissanayake said the JVP intends to hold talks with the Opposition Leader in this regard shortly.
