‘Playground being constructed in land for cashew cultivation’

Fifty acres of land set aside for cashew cultivation in Weerawila, Tissamaharama, has been handed over to another party, Assistant Cashew Corporation Regional Manager C.V.D. Pathiranage said.

He said that this party had already laid the foundation for a playground in that land.

When queried about the incident, Tissamaharama Divisional Secretary Kalinga Priyawansa said that the land was released for the construction of a playground because the Cashew Corporation had not taken steps to cultivate cashew in it although several years had passed.
