GMOA vows to thwart Counter Terrorism Bill

The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) will take maximum measures to defeat the Counter Terrorism Bill, GMOA Secretary Dr. Haritha Aluthge said.

Speaking at a press conference at the GMOA Headquarters in Colombo yesterday, he said the union will educate the public and journalists about the Bill. It will also educate the other trade unions, students’ organisations, political parties and civil organisations. The union will resort to individual and collective trade union action if required. The GMOA will extend its fullest support towards the investigations conducted by the Special Presidential Commission on the conduct of the Health Minister and the Health Ministry, Dr. Aluthge said.

The GMOA General Committee made crucial decisions on eight main matters during the meeting. The Batticaloa Campus, administrative issues of the health sector, and conspiracies launched against the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) election were among them, he said.
