One dead, six injured in cab crash

A cab carrying seven construction workers attached to the Laggala - Kalu Ganga Reservoir Project, plying on the Mahiyangana - Dambulla main road, veered off the road near Ma Oya crashed into a utility pole, killimg one and injuring six on Sunday.

They were rushed to the Bakamuna Divisional Hospital and later transferred to the Dambulla Weera Denzil Kobbekaduwa Base Hospital under critical condition.

The deceased was identified as Neil Herath, a 21-year-old resident of Kandy.

Police said that the victims had come in the vehicle to the Laggala - Polatuwadiya junction to board a Kandy-bound bus.

Investigations are continuing.
