An exhibition and sale of national handicrafts made by award-winning entrepreneurs will be held from January 16 to 20 from 10 am to 7 pm at the Southern Province Crafts Council premises (Sipnara).
This is in collaboration with the Galle Literary Festival.
The event is organised by the National Crafts Council (NCC) and the Industry, Commerce Resettlement of Protracted Displaced Persons and Co-operative Development Ministry.
It is part of the Shilpa Saviya 2018 programme to make award-winning craftsmen and women into successful entrepreneurs and to create new industries in the handicrafts sector.
The opening event will be held on January 16 at 2.30 pm under the patronage of Minister Rishad Bathuideen, Deputy Minister Buddhika Pathirana, NCC Chairman Heshani Sathish Bogollagama at Sipnara.
Close to 25 craftsmen and women would take part in the exhibition and sale, and customers can learn about and purchase any items of interest to support the local handicrafts industry.
