Relief for victim’s three children

President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed IGP Pujith Jayasundara to provide necessary assistance to three children of the police officer who committed suicide.

He was serving at the Gokarella Police Station in the Kurunegala police division. K.G.Wimalaratne (47) committed suicide by shooting himself on last Friday (25) with his official pistol at the police quarters. His wife, a police officer too. was disabled in an accident and under treatment. Upon hearing her death, Wimalaratne had reportedly committed suicide.
