Damith shines at ‘Man of the World 2017’

Twenty five year old, Damith Wijayathunga, the eldest son in a family of three boys, who hails from Matale, represented Sri Lanka, at the ‘Man of the World 2017' pageant in the Philippines recently. It was the first edition of the pageant.

He studied at St.Thomas College, Matale, and the Science College, Matale. He is a sportsman and has played cricket and athletics, specialising in the 100-200 meters. He graduated in Computer Science He enjoys, hiking , orienteering , rock climbing , watching movies and going to the gym. He graduated in Computer Science from National School of Business Management.

Damith, won the title of Mister Sri Lanka and represented Sri Lanka for the ‘Man of the World 2017’. The contestants visited many beautiful and cultural places in the Philippines. Damith’s favourite place is Negros Oriental Dumaguete. He says it is one of the most beautiful islands he had ever seen.

He made many friends there but the ones who were closest to him were Mr Vietnam, Mr Gibraltar, Mr Cape Verde, Mr Algeria, Mr Nepal, Mr Zambia and Mr China. He says that the pageant was very tiring, but an experience he will always treasure and one every young person should experience, at least once

He wishes to thank his family, his National Director Brian Kerkoven, Sameera Weerasinghe, who also guided him, Hiran Wijesekera for the amazing national costume, which although it did not win, was recognised by so many people around the world as spectacular, Lakshman Guruge of Pettah Tailors who sponsored his formal wear, EKKO & Clubhouse Vivaldi, who sponsored his casual wear, Kamil Hewavitharana for his help with his wardrobe and general guidance. Special thanks also goes to Sanka media team, Heahan Don , Amal Mahesh and all the friends and fellow Sri Lankans who supported him in one way or another.
