Damage caused to Morontuduwawatta: Case postponed to June 5

Panadura Additional Magistrate Kalhari Liyanage postponed the case where a Kalutara District Parliamentarian with his father and eight others were charged by Wadduwa Police for forcibly entering Morontuduwawatta, Wadduwa and causing damage to the plantations and a parapet wall.

The incident had occurred on March 28, 2006. The group had allegedly incurred a damage of about Rs. 50,000.

When the case was called on May 22, the attorney appearing for the accused informed the Additional Magistrate that the first accused - the MP - is an accused in a case pending before the Colombo Magistrates Court on the same day and had gone to appear for the case. The Additional Magistrate thus postponed the case for June 5.

Police said the evidence of the complainant had been recorded by the Court.
