Railway gate keepers want wage hike

Workers manning unprotected railway gates launched a strike yesterday demanding a wage hike. The workers demanded their monthly allowance currently in the range of Rs. 7,000 to be increased by at least another Rs. 5,000.

Meanwhile, authorities used Police personnel to man the unprotected railway crossings in the absence of gate keepers.
