Sri Lanka grabs int'l spotlight with end of Economic Forum

Sri Lanka Economic Forum 2016 on the theme Steering Sri Lanka towards Sustainable & Inclusive Development concluded at Cinnamon Grand on Friday putting Sri Lanka once again on the global investor map.

The event was organized and sponsored by international investor and Founder Chairman of Open Society George Soros.

The event was intensively covered by global media and this brought international sport light to Sri Lanka. The Sri Lanka Economic Forum set the stage for an in-depth analysis and iscussion of the need to develop government policy along these identified areas of importance. The event was also attended by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and President Maithripala Sirisena.

In addition to George Soros and economist Joseph Stiglitz several top world renowned speakers also spoke to the packed cream of the business society of Sri Lanka.

George Soros said that he was very pleased in the manner the country was heading after elections and said tourism was the bright spot for the country.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was optimistic of Sri Lanka's prospects, telling the audience that "politics is done" and the rest of his term would be focused on fixing the economy. The crowd received the announcement with applause with Wickremesinghe giving details of his plans to boost growth.

A youth Forum with 1,000 participants too was held on Friday.
