Official handling over of 30 stick bags and 12 Hockey balls worth Rupees 160, 000/= to College Principal, Oshara Panditharatne was sponsored by Kaushal Amuhengoda ( 98 group) and Rajpal Amuhengoda ( 91 group ) to promote hockey in the School. Udesh Indika a past Hockey player and the current President of the School 98 group coordinated this contribution through the group.
Hockey at Isipathana College was inaugurated in the year 1968 under the stewardship of Col. G.W. Rajapakse, the then Principal who was a driving force in introducing many new sports to the extra curriculum of the School..
In the first year, the school displayed its talents to good effect by making its presence felt matching in prowess on equal footing of the big brothers in the game such as Royal, St.Thomas, St. Benedict’s etc.
Isipathana College, who have produced many national Hockey players to represent Sri-Lanka to date, the 91 and 98 group hockey players has come forward to donate these materials on behalf of the younger lads, representing the College at present.
