Australia survived a huge batting scare from Ben Stokes before pulling off a tense 43-run victory over England in the second Ashes Test at the Lord’s in London yesterday.
The England Captain launched a fierce onslaught on the Australian bowlers as he hoisted nine sixes and struck nine boundaries during a magnificent 155 from 214 deliveries.
Stokes and Stuart Broad added 108 runs for the seventh wicket as England kept their hopes alive of reaching their target of 371 runs.
However, Stokes’ dismissal at 301 in the 73rd over completely changed the complexion of the game and Australia wrapped up the game with Mitchell Starc (3/79), Pat Cummins (3/69) and Josh Hazlewood (3/80) sharing the wickets.
