Renovated and expanded Kataragama main bus stand opened

Two more SLTB buses deployed for rural roads in the area

The renovated and expanded Kataragama main bus stand, which was developed for the convenience of the pilgrims coming to Kataragama Sacred City, was opened by Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana.

The renovation of the Kataragama bus stand was completed within a short period of almost a month with the help of donations including monies donated by the Kataragama Devalaya and the labour of the Sri Lanka Army.

At the same time, two new buses were put into operation by the Sri Lanka Transport Board in order to expand public transport facilities on rural roads in the area, under the direction of Minister Dr. Gunawardhana.

The Kirivehera Temple Chief Incumbent Most Ven. Kobawaka Dhamminda Nayaka Thera, Kataragama Abhinavarama Chief Incumbent Ven. Kapugama Saranatissa Thera, the Maha Sangha, State Minister of Irrigation Shasheendra Rajapaksa, State Minister of Pirivena Education Vijitha Berugoda and Basnayaka Nilame of Kataragama Devalaya Dishan Gunasekara attended the opening ceremony.
